Alfred Bruce Morris was born in Pensacola, Florida, on December 12, 1988. Morris played football, basketball, and track as a student at Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Florida. He ran for 1,049 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior while also contributing 147 tackles and five interceptions on defense. He received first-team All-State honors, the North West Florida MVP award, and game MVP honors.
Morris was a top performer in the state in the jumping events during the track season. He cleared a career-best mark of 13.40 meters in the triple jump event in the 2007 FHSAA 1A-2A Outdoor State Championships, placing tenth overall.

The Washington Redskins selected Morris with the 173rd overall choice in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. On May 6, 2012, the Redskins formally agreed to sign him to a four-year, $2.22 million contract with a $154,000 signing bonus. Following strong preseason performances in which he started two of the Redskins’ four preseason games, he became a dark horse in the race for the starting running back position against Roy Helu, Evan Royster, and Tim Hightower.

Morris missed the final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers along with the rest of the Redskins starters, therefore he has assured a position on the final 53-man roster for the start of the 2012 season. Morris agreed to a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys on March 22, 2016, with an option for an additional $5.5 million. He made his Cowboys debut on September 11, 2016, in a 20-19 loss to the New York Giants, gaining 35 yards on seven carries.
Morris’ first touchdown of the 2016 campaign came against the Washington Redskins on September 18. Morris joined the San Francisco 49ers on August 13, 2018. When Jerick McKinnon was diagnosed with an ACL tear, he has named the starting running back. In Week 1’s matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, he made his first start and gained 38 yards on 12 rushes. Later, the New York Giants added Morris to their practice squad on September 29, 2020, to add depth after Saquon Barkley underwent surgery to repair a ruptured ACL in his right knee and was sidelined for the remainder of the season.
