He got job as the announcer/sidekick for Alan on his short-lived show “Thicke of the Night” in 1984. He had his break in 1988 when he co-starred in “Coming to America” alongside Eddie Murphy. When Hall stepped in as the interim host for “The Late Show”, his path to having and hosting his won show was paved. The show competed with “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson”.
