Berrios was born on October 6, 1995, to Rico and Lee Berrios in Raleigh, North Carolina, in the United States. His siblings include Austin Berrios, an East Carolina Pirates wide receiver. Football was played in high school at Leesville Road High School by Berrios. After graduating from high school, he played college football for the University of Miami’s Miami Hurricanes squad. He played in all 12 games, including four starts, as a true freshman, and ended the year with 21 receptions for 232 yards and three touchdowns.
In his sophomore season of 2016, he played in all 13 games, started three games at wide receiver, and was Miami’s main punt returner. He hauled in 12 passes for a total of 178 yards and two scores. As a senior in 2017, he started all 13 games and contributed significantly on offense for Miami. He also ranked first in Miami for catches (55), yards receiving (679) and touchdowns receiving. (nine). He helped his team defeat Florida State that year for the first game since 2009 by catching two touchdown passes against the Seminoles.

The New England Patriots selected Berrios with the 210th overall selection in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was put on injured reserve in September 2018 and received a Super Bowl medal when the Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams to advance to Super Bowl LIII. In August 2019, he was released during the final squad cuts. He was picked up off waivers by the New York Jets in September 2019. He scored a receiving touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7 of the 2021 campaign. He became the first Jets receiver to do so in the same game in Week 17 when he scored a touchdown and ran for another.
With 46 receptions for 431 yards and two touchdowns, as well as an additional 40 yards and two scores on the ground, Berrios placed second on the team. As a kick returner, he received first-team All-Pro recognition. In terms of yards gained on kickoff returns and yards gained on punt returns, he ended the season third in the NFL. In March 2022, he re-signed with the Jets on a two-year $12 million deal. He was waived by the Jets in March 2023. He agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in the same month. Sophia Culpo, the sister of Olivia Culpo, the reigning Miss Universe 2012, and Berrios have previously dated. They broke up in 2023.
