American football quarterback Cameron Jerrell Newton is an unsigned free agent. He has 11 seasons of playing experience, mostly with the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers.

He goes by the moniker “Super Cam” and ranks first in quarterback rushing yards and touchdowns in the NFL.

Cam Newton Early Life

On May 11, 1989, Newton was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the younger brother of NFL center Cecil Newton and the son of Jackie and Cecil Newton Sr., a safety for the 1983 Dallas Cowboys and 1984 Buffalo Bills.

Around the middle of the 2010s, Caylin, his youngest brother, played quarterback for the Howard Bison. When he was younger, Newton was a gifted basketball and baseball player, but he acquired a phobia of getting hit by a pitch in baseball and struggled to stay out of foul trouble on the court.

He gave up basketball early in his high school career and baseball when he was 14 years old. Newton earned a sociology degree from Auburn University in 2015.

Newton started working out in San Diego with George Whitfield Jr. at the end of January 2011. Whitfield has previously worked with quarterbacks like Akili Smith and Ben Roethlisberger. The Carolina Panthers selected Newton with the first overall choice in the 2011 NFL Draft on April 28, 2011.

He became the group’s first fresh primary starter since 2002. The Panthers advanced to the Super Bowl in 2015 after winning the NFC Championship. The day before Super Bowl 50, Cam was crowned NFL MVP. Despite the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Panthers, Newton was ranked first among the “NFL Top 100 Players of 2016” list.

Throughout the ensuing seasons, Cam suffered numerous injuries, including a concussion, a partially torn rotator cuff, and another shoulder injury.

Following nearly three months in free agency, Newton signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots on July 8, 2020. On September 3, he was chosen as the Patriots’ starting quarterback and team captain, defeating veteran Brian Hoyer and second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

Cam is the father of seven beautiful children. Sovereign-Dior, Cashmere, Chosen, and Camidas are all children of his ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor. He also shares a son, Caesar, with Instagram model La Reina Shaw, who was born while Proctor was carrying Cashmere.

Shakira Proctor of Proctor and Jaden Shaw of Shaw both regard Newton to be their fathers. Prior to switching to a vegan diet, Newton was a pescatarian.
