Chandler Jones happens to be an American professional football player who serves as a defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He began his professional career in the NFL in 2012.

Early Life

Jones was born on February 27, 1990, to parents Arthur Jr. And Camille Jones in Rochester, New York, in the United States. Jon Jones, a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, and Arthur Jones, a former NFL player, are his two older siblings. Jones played high school football while attending Union-Endicott High School. He was named to the PrepStar All-East Region and SuperPrep All-Northeast teams in 2007, and Scout.com rated him as the eighth-best prospect in the state of New York.

From 2008 to 2011, he participated in college football for the Syracuse Orange squad at Syracuse University. He did not participate as a rookie in 2008, but as a sophomore he played in 12 games and recorded 52 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks. He made 57 total stops, four sacks, four passes defended, and three forced fumbles in 2010 as a junior. Jones was an All-Big East selection in 2011 despite only playing in seven games as a senior due to illness due to his 39 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He declared his intention to declare for the 2012 NFL Draft in December 2011.

Career

Jones was selected by the New England Patriots with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. That year, he agreed to a four-year deal with the Patriots, participated in 14 games, and finished with 45 tackles, 6 sacks, 5 passes defended, and 3 forced turnovers. All 16 of the games he began in 2013 were completed, and he finished with 42 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. He played in 10 games and made 43 stops and 6 sacks in 2014.

Jones’ contract option was exercised by the Patriots in April 2015, and in his first eight games, he recorded 9.5 sacks. He was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals in a deal in March 2016. He played in all 16 of the Cardinals’ games that season, starting all of them, compiling 49 tackles, 11 sacks, three passes defended, and four forced turnovers. The NFL Best 100 Players of 2017 listed him at position 85. He extended his deal with the Cardinals for five years and $82.5 million in March 2017. He finished the season leading the league with 17.0 sacks, setting a new Cardinals franchise mark, and was inducted into his second Pro Bowl in December 2017. On the 2018 NFL Top 100 Players list, his fellow players placed him 28th.

He completed the 2019 campaign with 53 tackles and established career highs in sacks (19), forced fumbles (8), fumble recoveries (3), and pass deflections (5). In the poll for defensive player of the year, he came in second place. In March 2022, he signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Jones is single. He is not presently dating anyone and has never been married. He still doesn’t have any children of his own.
