Charles David Liddell was born on December 17, 1969 in Santa Barbara, California. Chuck was brought up by his mother in a family that had Irish heritage. He took his chance at a number of athletic pursuits during his days in high school. He cut his teeth in UFC with a fight against Now Hernandez in 1998. Chuck after a couple of victories lost to Jeremy Horn, but at this time, he had managed to position himself as one of the most exciting new entrant fighters in the UFC. He had won against Kevin Randleman, Vitor Belfort, Tito Ortiz and many others. Chuck had his very first shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in 2002 with a fight against Randy Couture. He lost that fight with the referee intervening. Chuck has a daughter named Cade with MMA fighter Casey Noland. He proposed to his girlfriend Heidi Northcott on November 4, 2010. The lovers welcomed their daughter Guinevere in 2011. The couple welcomed their son Charles david Liddell Jr. in 2013.
