In Kirkland, Washington, in the United States, on January 11, 1990, Colin and Jennifer DeCastro welcomed their son named David DeCastro. When he was younger, he went to Bellevue High School. He participated in the school football team during his time in secondary school. He entered at Stanford University following his high school graduation and played college football there from 2008 to 2011 for the Stanford Cardinal team. In 2008, as a freshman, he didn’t participate in any contests.
He made all 13 of his right guard starts in 2009 as a redshirt rookie. He made a first-team All-Pac-10 selection in 2010 as a sophomore after starting each of his 13 contests. In 2011, after his junior season, he was once more chosen for the first-team Pac-12 and honored as a first-team All-American by a unanimous vote. The Cardinal completed 11-2 in DeCastro’s final season under head coach David Shaw. After that, he made the decision to forego his last year of college eligibility and sign with the NFL instead.

DeCastro was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. DeCastro inked a four-year, $7.81 million rookie deal with the Steelers in June 2012, which also included a $4.12 million signing bonus and a guarantee of $6.35 million. He began the final three games of the 2012 NFL season to cap off his debut campaign. He started 15 games in the 2013 season, and Pro Football Focus rated him as the fifth-best right guard. He participated in his first playoff game of his career in January 2014, when the Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Wildcard game. The Steelers exercised DeCastro’s fifth-year option in April 2015, paying him $8.07 million in compensation for 2016.
A $3.20 million signing incentive was also given to him for 2016. He and the Steelers agreed to a further five-year, $50 million contract on September 8, 2016. A $16 million signing incentive was part of the agreement. During the regular season of 2018, he started and participated in all 16 games. In December 2019, he was chosen to compete in his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl. On June 24, 2021, the Steelers dismissed him. Bonnie Butler DeCastro is his wife. Brooke DeCastro, who was born in October 2017, and Livy DeCastro, who was born in April 2019, are the couple’s two lovely children.
