American football Demario Davis plays for the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints as a linebacker. In college, he played football for Arkansas State and was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, by the New York Jets.

Demario Davis Early Life

On January 11, 1989, Demario Davis was born in Collines, Mississippi. His father was a career enlisted man in the US Army who had served in combat, and Davis’ mother gave birth to him when she was just 16 years old.

Davis was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track at Brandon High School in Brandon, Mississippi. He mostly played wide receiver in football as a sophomore and junior, guiding the club to a 7-5 record and their 14th postseason participation in the previous 16 years.

He had 81 tackles as a senior, had six interceptions, and one sack in addition to catching over 30 catches for 386 yards and four touchdowns.

Davis played for the Arkansas State Red Wolves in collegiate football. As a sophomore, he set a team record with 80 tackles, and as a junior and senior, he received a number of all-conference accolades.

Demario Davis Professional Career

In the third round (77th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, the New York Jets picked Davis. In 2012, Davis was selected as the eleventh linebacker.

In the Jets’ 48-28 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the season opener, he played in his first regular-season game as a professional.

In Week 3’s 23-20 overtime victory over the Miami Dolphins on September 23, 2012, Davis earned his first career tackle during Marcus Thigpen’s one-yard punt return.

On March 16, 2016, the Cleveland Browns agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with Davis, which included a $2 million signing bonus and a $4.10 million guarantee.

He played in his first regular-season game for the Cleveland Browns against the Philadelphia Eagles in the season opener, and he made a total of seven tackles in the 29-10 defeat.

As the best linebacker available in free agency, Davis attracted interest from a number of teams when he became an unrestricted free agent in 2018. On March 19, 2018, Davis signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the New Orleans Saints, with $16 million guaranteed and a $9.20 million signing bonus.

Davis was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 4 after compiling 11 tackles, two for a loss, and two sacks in a 33-18 victory over the New York Giants.
