Deshaun Watson was born to his parents Deann Watson and Don Richardson welcomed Watson on September 14, 1995, in Gainesville, Georgia. Watson gained his high school education at Gainesville High School in the fall of 2010 and was part of the school’s football team, the Red Elephants.
To run his spread offense, Gainesville head coach Bruce Miller had intended to start a rising junior as the quarterback. But Watson won the job and became Miller’s first-ever freshman starting quarterback.
Watson was a good player and scored some state records set throughout his high school career including total yards (17,134), total touchdowns (218), career passing yards (13,077), and career passing touchdowns (155).
Before officially committing to Clemson University on February 1, 2012, Watson had multiple collegiate offers. According to ESPN 300, he was the best quarterback recruit for the class of 2014.

In the first round (12th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, Watson was picked by the Houston Texans. Watson was selected by the Houston Texans after signing their 25th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and their first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to the Cleveland Browns.
Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns on March 18, 2022, along with the Texans’ sixth-round draft pick for 2024, in exchange for the Browns’ first-round picks in 2022, 2023, and 2024, as well as their third-round pick in 2023 and fourth-round picks in 2022 and 2024.
The Browns and Watson agreed to a new, $230 million, five-year contract as part of the transaction, making it the richest and most guaranteed contract in NFL history.
