Desmond Trufant
American football cornerback Desmond Trufant is an unsigned free agent. In the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons. At Washington, he played collegiate football.
Desmond Trufant Early Years
In Tacoma, Washington, Trufant attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He received a berth on the Seattle Times preseason all-state squad and was named first-team all-state by the newspaper after his senior year.
After recording 47 tackles and eight interceptions as a junior and being named to the All-Narrows League first team as a cornerback, he was named to the team as a running back and cornerback as a senior.
Trufant was regarded as the 56th-best cornerback in the country by Rivals.com, which gave him a three-star rating as a recruit.
Over offers from Arizona State, Oregon, and Washington State, the alma school of his brother Marcus, he chose a scholarship to Washington.

Desmond Trufant Career
In the first round (number 22 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Trufant.
He was the first of two cornerbacks taken by the Falcons, along with second-round pick Robert Alford, and was chosen in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, behind Houston’s D. J. Hayden and Alabama’s Dee Milliner (60th overall).
Trufant and the Detroit Lions agreed to a two-year, $21 million contract on March 25, 2020. Kirk Cousins was on Trufant’s first sack as a Lion in Week 9’s 34- 0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
During the Lions’ 20-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 11, Trufant intercepted his first pass as a member of the team on a P. J. Walker pass. Injured Reserve status was given to him on December 2, 2020. The Lions released Trufant on March 17, 2021.
On March 20, 2021, Trufant agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He left the Bears’ camp on August 13 to be with his dying father. Trufant was released by the Bears on August 31.
Trufant signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints on September 7, 2021. Before being discharged on October 12, he participated in two games.
Trufant inked a contract with the Las Vegas Raiders on October 19, 2021.
