Poe grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where he attended Wooddale High School. Poe was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in football, basketball, and track and field. In his senior year, Poe recorded 92 tackles, nine sacks, and two interceptions as a defensive tackle, earning him a spot on the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s all-state team. Poe also participated in track and field, where he excelled in shot put, throwing a distance of 60 feet and 1 inch.

Dontari Poe NFL Career:

Dontari Poe was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Poe spent his first five seasons with the Chiefs, becoming a two-time Pro Bowl player in 2013 and 2014. In 2017, Poe signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, where he played for one season before signing a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2018. Poe played for the Panthers for two seasons before being released in 2020.

Throughout his career, Poe was known for his ability to stop the run, as well as his impressive athleticism for a player of his size. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing in at over 330 pounds, Poe was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line.

Poe and the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a two-year contract on April 9, 2020. He was added to the active/physically unable to perform list on July 28, 2020, the first day of training camp. On August 18, 2020, he was reinstated to the active roster.
