Dwight Yoakam is an American singer, songwriter, actor and film director. His net worth is estimated at about $45 million. He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, USA. He is known mostly for the influence he brought to bare on country music.
Yoakam has featured in “Sling Blade”, “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada”, “Crank,” etc. He released a total of 12 gold albums and 9 platinum albums over the span of his career. His album titled, “This Time” attained the lofty status of triple-platinum. Dwight creatively wove his own brand of honky-tonk music called “hillbilly music”. This introduced the much needed diversity at a time when the country scene was only pop oriented.

Early Life
Dwight Yoakam was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on October 23rd, 1956. His parents are David Yoakam and Ruth Ann Tibbs. Dwight is the oldest of three children. He attended Northland High School. His talent in music and drama became evident even during his high school days. Dwight played various lead roles for the school plays helping him hone his talent as well.
Dwight went to Ohio State University after his high school education only to drop out in pursuit of his music career. His love for music caused him to move to Los Angeles in 1977 with the view to becoming a recording artist.

Career
After a failed attempt at popularizing his brand of honky-tonk country music in Nashville led him to relocate to Los Angeles. Dwight wrote songs and performed in rock clubs across Los Angeles. He managed to pervade a rather punky music atmosphere with his rendition of country music.
He earned enormous mileage thereby opening the door to a much bigger and diverse audience. Dwight bank-roled his first album in 1986. His album made very giant strides in the country music space. There was a certain energy and revivalism about Dwight’s style. He achieved tremendous success throughout the 1990s with albums like, “If There Was a Way” and “This Time”.
The talented musician has remained relevant even in this century. He released, “Blame the Vain” in 2005 before “3 Pears” in 2011. Dwight released the albums, “Second Hand Heart” and “Swimmin’ Pools” in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
Dwight featured in “Sling Blade” in 1996. Popular among his recent movies is “Crank” where he played Doctor Miles.

Personal Life
After about 10 years with Emily Joyce, the two finally settled in 2020. Their son Dalton Loren was born in 2020. Dwight was previously involved with Sharon Stone as well as Karen Duffy.
