Eddie Vedder was born Edward Louis Severson III on December 23, 1964 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois. He was born to Karen Vedder (mother) and Louis Severson Jr. (father). Eddie’s parents divorced in 1965- he was a year old. His mother with no hesitation remarried Peter Mueller. He grew up with the belief that Mueller was his biological father. He relocated to San Diego in the mid 1970s with parents and his siblings. As his 12th birthday present, he was given a guitar by his mom. He took solace in surfing and music during his teens. He made the decision to remain in San Diego with his father whiles his siblings and mother moved back to Chicago after his mother and step-father divorced . He moved out and started living on his own in his final year at San Dieguito High School. During these times, he supported himself with a nightly job at a drug store in Encinitas, California. He discovered following the divorce that Mueller was not his biological father. Eddies’ father, Louis Severson Jr. had passed away by that time. He abandoned school and relocated to Chicago after he dropped out of school. He adopted the name Vedder- his mother’s maiden name. He got his GED in the early 80s.

The band “Mother Love Bone” was a band based in Seattle composed of Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Andrew Wood and others. Wood passed away as a result of heroin overdose at the age of 24. A one-off-tribute project dubbed “Temple of the Dog” to Wood was formed by Ament, Stone Gossard, Chris Cornell, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron.
