Eddie Vedder was born Edward Louis Severson III on December 23, 1964 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois. He was born to Karen Vedder (mother) and Louis Severson Jr. (father). Eddie’s parents divorced in 1965- he was a year old. His mother with no hesitation remarried Peter Mueller. He grew up with the belief that Mueller was his biological father. He relocated to San Diego in the mid 1970s with parents and his siblings. As his 12th birthday present, he was given a guitar by his mom. He took solace in surfing and music during his teens. He made the decision to remain in San Diego with his father whiles his siblings and mother moved back to Chicago after his mother and step-father divorced .
