EJ Manuel Early Life and Education
EJ Manuel was raised in Virginia Beach and went to Bayside High School there. He played football in high school, and in his senior year, the Associated Press awarded him the Virginia Player of the Year. Rivals.com ranked him as the second-best quarterback in the nation.
After that, Manuel attended Florida State University and played football for the Seminoles there. He participated in 43 games throughout his college career, throwing for 7,741 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. He ran for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns as well. He was honored as the 2013 Orange Bowl’s Most Valuable Player after Florida State defeated Northern Illinois 31–10 in that game.

EJ Manuel NFL Career
In the first round (16th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft, Manuel was selected by the Buffalo Bills. He participated in 10 games, starting eight of them, and threw for 1,972 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions in his debut season. He took part in five games in 2014, starting four of them, and finished with 838 passing yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Manuel was the Bills’ backup quarterback in 2015 before Tyrod Taylor was anointed the team’s starter. In two games in 2015, he participated, completing six of eight passes for 56 yards. In one game in 2016, he participated, completing 9 of 20 passes for 86 yards and one interception.
Manuel joined the Oakland Raiders in 2017 and was Derek Carr’s back-up quarterback. 2017 saw him participate in two games, throwing 24 of 43 passes for 265 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He was released by the Raiders in March 2019 after not participating in any games in 2018.
