EJ Manuel Early Life and Education

Manuel grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he attended Bayside High School. In high school, he played football and was named the Virginia Player of the Year by the Associated Press in his senior year. He was also rated as the second-best quarterback in the country by Rivals.com.

Manuel went on to attend Florida State University, where he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. During his college career, he played in 43 games and threw for 7,741 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. He also rushed for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Orange Bowl, which Florida State won 31-10 over Northern Illinois.

Manuel was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round (16th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he played in 10 games, starting eight of them, and threw for 1,972 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. In 2014, he played in five games, starting four, and threw for 838 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

In 2015, the Bills named Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback, and Manuel became his backup. He played in two games in 2015, completing six of eight passes for 56 yards. He played in one game in 2016, completing 9 of 20 passes for 86 yards and an interception.

In 2017, Manuel signed with the Oakland Raiders, where he served as the backup to Derek Carr. He played in two games in 2017, completing 24 of 43 passes for 265 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He did not play in any games in 2018 and was released by the Raiders in March 2019.
