The Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL) are the team that Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogbah plays defensive end for professionally. In 2016, he began playing professionally in the NFL.

Emmanuel Ogbah Early Life

Ogbah was born to Nigerian parents Richard and Regina Ogbah on November 6, 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria. His mother, Regina, ran a store, and his father, Richard, worked as an assistant bank manager. He has two younger sisters, Victoria and Faith, as well as an elder brother named Kingsley. At the age of nine, he and his family relocated to Houston, Texas in the United States. He played high school football while attending George Bush High School. He made a commitment to play college football at Oklahoma State University. He participated in college football with the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Oklahoma State.

Ogbah participated in each of the season’s 13 games in 2013, having redshirted as a true freshman in 2012. He had 20 tackles, four sacks, and 15 solo stops by the end of the season. He was named Big 12 defensive lineman of the year by the league’s coaches as a sophomore in 2014, making him the first athlete from OSU to get that accolade. In the first game of 2014, he had six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups, which was a breakthrough performance on a big stage. He had 49 tackles overall and 11 sacks.

Emmanuel Ogbah Career

The Cleveland Browns selected Ogbah with the 32nd overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He agreed to a $6.6 million, four-year deal with a $3 million signing bonus in May 2016. As a rookie with the Browns, he started every game and was sixth on the team in tackles with 53 while also leading the club in sacks with 5.5. He played the first 10 games of the 2017 campaign as the Browns’ starting defensive end before going down with a foot injury in Week 11. On November 21, 2017, he was declared out for the year and put on injured reserve.

In April 2019, he was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. He sustained a torn pectoral in Week 10 and was out for the remainder of the year. He tied his career high with 5.5 sacks and 32 tackles for the season. He agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in March 2020. He recorded a strip sack on Kyler Murray in Week 9’s game over the Arizona Cardinals. Teammate Shaq Lawson recovered the sack and returned it for a 36-yard score. He agreed to a four-year, $65 million contract deal with the Dolphins in March 2022. Ogbah is currently single and there is no information available on his previous relationships.
