Gore Jr. Played quarterback and running back in high school football at Miami Killian Senior High School. He rushed for 1,111 yards and 13 scores on 113 attempts during his senior year. After graduating from high school, he made a pledge to Florida Atlantic, but later switched to Southern Miss. He registered at Southern Miss University, where he is now a member of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles football squad. He had 121 carries for 708 yards, good for a 5.9 average, and topped the team as a true freshman. Against North Texas, North Alabama, and Florida Atlantic, he had three wins with 100 yards or more. In a 20-23 defeat to UTSA, he ran for a 51-yard touchdown.
After the season, he was awarded All-Freshman and second team all-conference. Gore amassed 731 rushing yards on 162 attempts through the first ten games of his second season, scoring two touchdowns.
