Early Life
Jelena Noura Hadid was born on 23rd April, 1995 in Los Angeles. He is famously called Gigi. She was born to Yolanda Hadid (former model and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star) who is Dutch and Mohammed Hadid. His father earned his fortune through Ritz Carlton hotels as well as other high-end real estate dotted across the globe.
Gigi was brought up in Santa Barbara, California. She went to Malibu High School and graduated in 2013. Her dream to pursue a career in criminal psychology at The New School was swapped for a career in modeling. Her younger siblings are models. At the age of 8, her parents divorced. Gigi’s father according to reports compensated Yolanda heavily after their divorce. Yolanda found love in David Foster in 2011. The marriage came to an end in 2017.

Career
Gigi was discovered very early at the age of two by Paul Marciano of Guess clothing. After modeling for Baby Guess for a while, she returned to school to focus on academics. She made a return to modelling in 2011. Gigi became the face of a Guess campaign in 2012. In 2013, Gigi signed with IMG while in New York.
The beautiful model walked for the Desigual show in February 2014 before appearing on the cover of CR Fashion Book Magazine. 2014 saw her star in Tom Ford Eyewear’s autumn/winter campaign with Patrick Schwarzenegger. Her career only saw blossoming after her breakthrough in 2014.

Controversies
The model has suffered a few legal troubles as a result of copyright fouls. Photographer Peter Cepeda sued Gigi for posting a picture of herself taken by Peter on her Instagram page without permission to do so. The case was later settled out of court. Gigi once again found herself on the wrong side of the law when she posted images of herself without leave from the photographer to do so.
She ran into another controversy when her sister Bella posted a video on Instagram showing Hadid holding a cookie in the shape of the Buddha whiles squinting her eyes. This was deemed gross disrespect to the religious figure. The backlash especially from Chinese audiences is deemed to be the reason behind her pulling out of the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show held in China.

Personal Life
Gigi Hadid dated Australian singer Cody Simpson between 2013 and 2015. She was featured in his music video for the songs “Surfboard” and “Flower”. After they separated, she was romantically involved with Zayn Malik in the latter part of 2015. After breaking up in March 2018, the lovers patched up briefly in June only to split for the second time that same year. The lovers reunited again in 2020.
