She came strongly into the public focus as the lead singe of the band “No Doubt” in the 1990s. Gwen never looked back since she had her breakthrough in the 1990s. Early Life
Gwen Renée Stefani was born on October 3, 1969 in Fullerton, California. Her parents are Dennis Stefani (a marketing executive) and Patti (an accountant). She has two brothers and a sister.
Career
Gwen was invited by her older brother Eric to be the vocalist for No Doubt, a ska band in 1986. Eric played for the band as a keyboardist. The band signed to Interscope Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1992. The group’s third album “Tragic Kingdom” had the single “Don’t Speak” which topped the Hot 100 Airplay year-end chart only two years after it was released in 1997.
The album was honored with a Grammy nomination, and by 2004, it had sold in excess of 16 million copies globally. The group released the album “Return of Saturn” in 2000, succeeded by the album “Rock Staedy” in 2001. The singles “Hey Baby” and “Underneath It All” had Grammy Awards. Stefani weaned herself off the group and began working on other projects.
Gwen released her first solo album “Love.Angel. Music. Baby.” in 2004. The solo went on to No.7 on the US Billboard 200 chart as well making it to platinum status in the US, the UK, Australia and Canada. She released her second album “The Sweet Escape” in December 2006. Her single “Wind It Up” reached the top 10 in the US as well as the UK.
Whilst she was caught up in the business of promoting her songs, the group was also working on a new album in her absence. No Doubt released their album, “Push and Shove” in 2012. In 2016, Stefani released her third album “That Is White the Truth Feels Like” featuring none of the material she had worked on like “Baby Don’t Lie” and “Spark on Fire”.
Personal Life
She got married to Gavin Rossdale who was the guitarist and lead singer for the band Bush in 2002. The lovers have two children; Kingston James McGregor Rossdale and Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale together. After 13 years of marriage, Gwen made known of an impending divorce hearing between herself and Rossdale on August 3, 2015. She got romantically involved with Blake Shelton who was her co-judge on “The Voice” in 2015.
