Jennifer Lopez is an American actress, singer, dancer, fashion designer, television producer and businesswoman. She has enjoyed quite a long career spanning over 25 years and is one of Hollywood’s A-listers. Jennifer has approximately $400 million in net worth. The versatile lady married Ben Affleck in July 2022. Throughout her life, she has worn the engagement ring for an six times earning her the nick name J-Lo a “GOAT”.

Early Life
Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on 24th July, 1969 in the Bronx borough of New York City. Her parents are Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez who are both Puerto Ricans. The diva has two sisters; Leslie (older sister) and Lynda (younger sister). Jennifer’s father worked the night shift at an insurance company whiles her mother was a homemaker.
Jennifer really came from her mother’s womb with a luck charm. Her parents moved from the small apartment they lived in Castle Hill neighborhood into a two-story house they acquired a few years after Jennifer was born. At a very tender age of five, Jennifer began honing her skill by taking singing and dancing lessons. Throughout her academic journey, she went solely to Catholic Schools.
Jennifer’s parents gave the encouragement to their daughters to dance and sing in front of their friends at home as a means of staying out of trouble. This practice proved invaluable to Jennifer’s development as a singer and dancer. Whiles in school, Jennifer did gymnastics, ran on national level as well as a member of the school’s softball team.
She was cast in “My Little Girl” during her final year after auditioning for the role. This was a major eye-opener to Jennifer as far as her career path was concerned. She did a semester at Baruch College after which she dropped out.

Dancing Career
Jennifer’s decision to pursue a career in acting infuriated her parents leading to her moving from her parents’ house to Manhattan to pursue her passion in dance and acting. Within a very short time, she was cast in regional productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Oklahoma after which she was hired for the chorus of Golden Musicals of Broadway for a five months tour through Europe.
Jennifer got a job as a dancer, singer and choreographer on the Synchronicity show in Japan. She was made the backup dancer for New Kids on the Block performing at the 18th Annual American Music Awards. She came tops among 2000 applicants and relocated to Los Angeles for a job as a Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color. She was a regular cast through 1993.

Acting Career
Between 1993 and 1995, Jennifer acted minor roles. Winning the title role in the biopic Selena was indeed the magic wand. She went on to feature in Anaconda, Out of Sight, The Wedding Planner as well as Unfinished Life. In 2003, she acted side-by-side Ben Affleck in “Gigli”. The movie was a major flop receiving a very poor reception. The poor reviews are attributable to negative press that before the release of the film coupled with the media focus keenly around Lopez and Affleck’s engagement which took center-stage to the detriment of the movie.

She got the nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critic’s Choice Movie Awards as well as Independent Spirit Awards.
