Jermichael Decorean Finley, who is a former American football tight end, was born on March 26, 1987. From 2008 to 2015, he was a member of the National Football League.

Jermichael Finley Early Life

Joel Davis and Faye Finley raised Finely, who was born and nurtured in Texas in the United States. Finley was mainly raised by his grandma, Clara Mitchell, as his mother, Jermichael, was only 16 years old at the time of his birth. He participated in football as a reserve player while a student at Diboll High School. He set several marks at Diboll, including 36 receptions for 878 yards and the most touchdown receptions with 13. In addition to playing football, he also participated in basketball, where he was named the district’s most important player, and track. Although he was offered scholarships by a few colleges, he eventually decided to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college football for the Texas Longhorns.

During his first year of college in 2005, he was given a redshirt. He participated in all 13 games and made four starts as a redshirt rookie. He had 371 yards and three scores on 31 catches, breaking the school’s freshman tight end record. He caught passes in 10 games. He started 13 of the games at tight end during his second campaign. He broke the institution’s tight end receiving yardage mark in October 2007 and finished the year with 45 receptions for 575 yards and two touchdowns. His performance garnered him honorable mention recognition from the coaches and media of the Big 12 Conference. He made the decision to forgo his junior and senior years of eligibility to join the NFL Draft in January 2008.

The Green Bay Packers selected Finley in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He set a franchise mark in the Packers’ playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals in January 2010 by catching six passes for 159 yards. (broken by Davante Adams in 2019). He recorded two 100-yard performances in the first three games of 2010, but against the Washington Redskins, he sustained a knee injury that would terminate his season. The Packers put him on injured reserve on October 18. He was a free agency following the 2011 campaign. He was re-signed by the Green Bay Packers in February 2012 to a two-year, $14 million deal. His salary for 2012 and 2013 were expected to be slightly more than $5 million and roughly $8 million, respectively.

Finley sustained a bruised spinal cord in week seven of the 2013 season against the Cleveland Browns after making a catch and colliding helmet to helmet with safety Tashaun Gipson of the Cleveland Browns. He was brought to the ICU of a Green Bay hospital while instantly paralyzed and with little feeling in his legs. After suffering a spinal nerve injury in 2013, he was able to sign with anyone. He thanked the Packers organization when he declared his retirement from football in October 2015. Courtney is the name of Finley’s spouse. Currently, they have five boys.
