Jessica Ann Simpson was born on July 10, 1980 in Abilene, Texas. She and her younger sister were brought up in Dallas and Waco, Texas. Jessica could not travel the full course of her high school education dropping out in 1997 in pursuit of her career.
Jessica however, got her GED through distance learning at Texas Tech High School the following year. She grew up in a predominantly Christian home under the strict watch of her father who was a Baptist youth minister. Jessica honed her talent through singing in the church choir as a child. Her talent in singing was noticed at a church retreat after which she became cork sure she wanted to pursue a career in singing.

Jessica made it to the semi-final of “The Mickey Mouse Club” at the age of twelve after auditioning. She was however not selected. Jessica was discovered and signed by the head of Christian music label known as Proclaim Records. Jessica’s debut, “Jessica” was unreleased as a result of the company going bankrupt.
Her grandmother sponsored a limited pressing of the record. After “Jessica” had been sent to several record labels and producers, Jessica finally landed a deal with Columbia Records. The head of Columbia Records, Mottola wanted to use Jessica as a counter to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
He advised Jessica to focus on an “anti-sex appeal” reputable image to provide something quite different from what Britney and Aguilera were doing. Jessica’s debut single, “I Wanna Love You Forever” was quite a success. It reached the third position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the USA. It got the platinum certification by RIAA.
In 1999, her debut studio album “Sweet Kisses” was released. It got a double platinum certification by the RIAA although her second album was a far cry. After her wedding to boyfriend Nick Lanchey in October 2002, the couple starred in “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica”, an MTV reality show. It was a major hit!.
