Landon Collins NFL Early Life

Collins was born to April Justin and Thomas Collins in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States. He has a sister called Gerrah Willis and a younger brother named Gerald Willis. Collins was a gridiron and track star while a student at Dutchtown High School. He was an All-American defensive back in football. He had 26 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery as a junior. He played football for the Alabama Crimson Tide while attending the University of Alabama. He made a contribution as a backup at Alabama as a true rookie.

In all 14 games of the season, he started on the kickoff and punt coverage teams and played safety as a reserve, making 17 tackles and blocking a punt. He made all fourteen of his starts as a junior, and he shared for the team lead in interceptions while leading the team in stops with 98. Having completed his senior year, he qualified for the 2015 NFL Draft. Although he was hesitant to forego his senior year at Alabama, the NFL Draft Advisory Board’s prediction that he would likely be chosen in the first round convinced him to do so.

The New York Giants selected Collins in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft with the 33rd overall selection. He made a four-year, $6 million deal with the club in June 2015. He played in his first regular-season game as a professional during the New York Giants’ 27-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He completed the game with four combined tackles. In 16 starts, he recorded 112 total stops, nine pass deflections, and an interception for his rookie season. He was selected for the 2017 Pro Bowl in December 2016 and completed the season with 125 total tackles, four sacks, 13 pass deflections, five interceptions, and a score in 16 starts.

He played and started in 12 games in 2018, finishing with 96 total tackles, four pass breakups, and a forced turnover. He committed to the Washington Redskins in a six-year, $84 million deal as an unrestricted free agent for the 2019 season. Collins re-joined the New York Giants in October 2022 and made their practice squad. For the Week 7 and Week 8 games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks, he was promoted from the practice roster. In week 16, he received another promotion, and he played 27 inside linebacker plays against Washington. Collins is not married but is known to be engaged to a lady called Victoria Lowery. They have no children yet.
