Larry Ogunjobi Early Life

Ogunjobi was born in 1994 to Yoruba parents who had emigrated from Nigeria in Livingston, New Jersey, in the United States. His parents are Larry and Mercy Ogunjobi, and his sister is Faith Ogunjobi. He played high school football while attending Ragsdale High School. As a junior and senior, he was selected for the first team all-conference defense and helped the Tigers under Tommy Norwood win back-to-back conference championships as part of a run of five straight victories for the Tigers.

The Tigers finished 10-3 in 2010, and 9-3 in 2011, sharing the Piedmont-Triad 4A championship. He enrolled in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte after graduating from high school. He played collegiate football for the Charlotte 49ers squad from 2013 to 2016, compiling 217 tackles and 13 sacks. He double-majored in biology and computer science at Charlotte, earning a computer science degree in December 2016.

Larry Ogunjobi Career

Ogunjobi took part in the NFL Combine and finished all the necessary positional and combine drills. He was taken by the Cleveland Browns with the 65th overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. On May 17, 2017, he agreed to a $3.9 million contract with the Browns. He agreed to a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals in March 2021. In 2021, he made 16 starts and had a career-high seven sacks, 49 tackles, and 12 tackles for loss. He had a foot injury that ended his season and required surgery during the wild-card playoff game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

He was rumored to be signing with the Chicago Bears in March 2022, but after failing the conditional physical, the offer was withdrawn. He agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 21, 2022. In 2022, he made 16 starts and registered 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He extended his contract with the Steelers for a three-year, $28.75 million deal in March 2023.
