Najee Harris, full name Najee Jerome Harris, plays running back for the National Football League’s Pittsburgh Steelers. He stands 1.85 m tall and weights 105 kg. In 2021, he started his NFL career.

Najee Harris Early Life

To Curt Harris and Tianna Hicks, Harris was born on March 9, 1998 in Martinez, California, in the United States. He and the rest of his siblings were all raised by their mother. He played football while a student at Antioch High School. In 2014, as a sophomore, he rushed for 2,263 yards and scored 23 scores. He rushed for 2,744 yards and 36 touchdowns in his junior year and 2,776 yards and 34 in his final year. From 2017 to 2020, while a student at the University of Alabama, he participated in collegiate football for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. He participated in all 14 games as a freshman but only received a few carries. He ended the year with 370 yards on 61 carries for an average of 6.1 yards per carry.

He participated in 15 games during his sophomore season, rushing for 783 yards on 117 attempts, and earning four rushing touchdowns. He carried the ball 209 times for 1,224 yards and 13 touchdowns in the 2019 season. He also caught 27 receptions for 304 yards and seven more scores. Harris declared that he would return to Alabama for his senior year, defying rumors that he would enter the 2020 NFL Draft. He was the Alabama Crimson Tide’s primary running back in 2020, and he came in fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting. His career saw him become the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in rushing yards (3,843), overall scrimmage yards (4,624), and scores (57). He received a Consumer Services degree from Alabama when he graduated in 2020.

In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers took Harris with the 24th overall pick. He signed his rookie deal with the Steelers in May 2021. It was worth $13.1 million over four years, including a $6.9 million signing bonus. He had 74 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns in addition to 1,200 rushing yards and seven scores at the end of his debut campaign. He came in fourth in both rushing and all-purpose yards, and he had the most catches among running backs. His 381 touches were the most in the NFL, and he had no turnovers. Along with being nominated to the NFL All-Rookie Team, he was chosen as Joe Mixon’s replacement as an alternate for the 2022 Pro Bowl.

He established the charity Da’ Bigger Picture Foundation in 2021 to help families who are experiencing homelessness and hunger. In the 2022 season, he started off to a slow start. In addition to his 41 receptions for 229 yards and three receiving touchdowns, he completed the season with 272 carries for 1,038 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He became the first Steelers player to run for 1,000 yards in his team’s first two seasons as a result. Harris is not married. He has never been married and is not engaged to anyone either. He also has no children.
