Oweh was born and raised in New Jersey in the United States on December 15, 1998 to Henry Oweh and Tania Kachikwu. Oweh has three siblings: Natasha, Kaylen, and Otega. He played high school football when he attended Blair Academy. In the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game, he was chosen to participate. He attended Pennsylvania State University and played collegiate football for the Penn State Nittany Lions after graduating from high school. He appeared in four games and recorded two sacks as a true freshman in 2018 at Penn State. As a sophomore in 2019, he appeared in 13 games with one start and had 21 tackles and five sacks. In the 2020 season, he made 38 stops, six of which were for a loss.

Odafe Oweh Career

During the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens picked Oweh with the 31st overall pick. Oweh announced shortly after the decision that he will start going by his first name, Odafe, instead of his middle name, Jayson. He signed a four-year, $12.6 million agreement with an opening in June 2021. His first forced turnover of his career was recovered from late in the fourth quarter. His performance, which included three tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, won him the award for defensive player of the week. He missed the last two matches of the season because of a sickness

Oweh finished his debut season with 33 total tackles, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and a pass breakup. In Week 4 of the 2022 campaign against the Buffalo Bills, he forced a fumble that teammate Marcus Williams recovered. He also recorded a sack of Josh Allen. Jayson Oweh is single.
