Oliver Tree Nickell was born on June 29, 1993 in Santa Cruz, California. He was raised in Santa Cruz by his father Ethan Nickell and mother Dominica Nickell. He had two siblings Humphrey Nickell (brother) and Donne Nickell (sister)He showed glimpses of his talents at an early age. He began taking piano lessons at the age of three and had written an album by the age of six. He was a member of a bank named Irony whiles in middle school. At high school, Tree got into hip hop music and became a DJ. It was during this same time that he recorded with the rap group Mindfuck under the stage name Kryph
He went to San Francisco State University where he studied business for two years. Oliver Tree also studied Music Technology at California Institute of the Arts graduating in 2016.

Tree’s career one would argue began at a very tender age of six. In 2010, Tree self-released his music. This officially launched his career albeit solo. He subsequently signed with R&S Records. Tree put his music career on hiatus from 2011 to 2016 to finish his studies in Music Technology. He made a return to his career with a maiden performance on television in 2016. His rise to fame was somewhat overnight after his song, “When I’m Down” went viral. He rode on the back of this success to sign a contract with Atlantic Records. How did Oliver Tree get famous? Signing with London-based R&S records as well as his EPs were instrumental in making him famous.
On 12th June, 2020, Oliver Tree released his maiden album titled “Ugly is Beautiful” followed by “Bury me Alive” on 26th May 2020. He holds the Guinness world Record for the largest kick scooter in the world.
