Prince Harry is a member of the British Royal Family. Prince has approximately $60 million in net worth as at January 2023. Prince Harry is the son of King Charles and Princess Diana Spencer. His paternal grandparents are the Late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince William his older brother was named heir-apparent to the throne when their father was made King after the demise of their grandmother in September 2022. Prince Harry does not have a last name like all royals especially those with the His/her Royal Highness. His children use “Mountbatten-Windsor” as their last name.
Early Life
Prince Harry was born Henry Charles Albert David on September 15, 1984 in Paddington, London, UK. His parents separated in 1992, however, it took four years for the divorce to be finalized in 1996. Unfortunately, Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris, France the following year when Prince William was 15 and Prince Harry was 12. Princess Diana’s accident was as a result of running away from the paparazzi. As a result, Prince Harry developed a rather evasive attitude to the paparazzi. He, during his younger days got into scuffles with paparazzi pursuing him.
Military Career
In 2005, Prince Harry enrolled into the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where he joined the Alamein Company and got commissioned as a Comet (second lieutenant) in the Blues and Royals- A regiment of the Household Cavalry in the British Army. Prince got promoted shortly in 2008. The Prince was elated when he was deployed to Iraq in 2007 saying “There is no way I am going to sit on my ass back home while my boys are out fighting for their country”.
His dream did not come to pass however as he was not allowed to serve in Iraq. General Sir Richard Dannatt harbored the fear of the Prince being ‘a high dollar target’. He was referred to as “Lieutenant Harry Wales”. He earned $50,000 per year during his military career.
Social Life
Notwithstanding enjoying the reputation as one of Britain’s favorite royals, Harry’s life seemed to be spinning out of control at a time in his life. For example, photos of Harry in a Nazi costume surfaced when he went to a friends birthday party. The Prince issued an apology but took quite some time for the matter to die down.
In 2012, photos of Harry in Las Vegas, naked with two naked women during a game of strip billiards made its way to the public became an international media frenzy.
Philanthropy
Prince Harry was brought up with a deep love for philanthropy which he had imbibed from his mother. Princess Diana his mother was went by the accolade, “The People’s Princess”. her charity span across several segments of society -people living with AIDS, help for former servicemen and women, etc.
Prince Harry invented the Invictus Games which was a sporting event for wounded, sick or injured armed services personnel as well as their associated veterans. The games include wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing.
Personal Life
Prince Harry got married to Meghan Markle in 2018. The royal couple gave birth to a son named Archie, seventh in line to the throne.
