Richard Dean Anderson is an American actor, television producer and composer. His net worth is estimated to be $30 million. He began his acting career in the 1970s. He had become a very popular television actor by the 1980s.
Richard is commonly known for his lead role in “MacGyver” and “Stargate: SG-1”. He doubled as one of the producers of the two TV series.
Early Life
Richard Dean Anderson was born on January, 23rd, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His parents were Stuart Anderson who taught English, drama in a local high school and Joycelyn Rhae Carter who was an artist. He was brought in Roseville, Minnesota together with three brothers.
Richard attended Alexander Ramsey high school. His long-held dream of becoming a hocker was shattered when he got both of his arms broken during high school. This shifted his focus and interest into exploring the artistic side of himself. He began to pursue art, music and acting. He attended St. Cloud University where he trained to be an actor. He completed his university education finally in Ohio University.
Richard settled in Los Angeles with his girlfriend in order to pursue their acting career. Richard to menial and “odd” jobs to support himself.
Career
Richard Anderson’s debut was a big role in the sitcom “General Hospital” playing Dr. Jeff Webber. This gave the needed push to his career. Richard took several acting roles in the mid 1980s. He featured in “The Facts of Life”, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, “Emerald Point N.A.S”, “Ordinary Heroes”, and many others.
Richard Dean reached iconic levels when he played Angus MacGyver in the hit series, “MacGyver” in 1985 running for seven years. Such was Richard’s involvement in MacGyver that during the seven years, he had little time for other projects. In 1997, he booked another role in “Stargate SG-1”.
Subsequent years saw his involvement in Stargate SG-1 wane significantly owing to ill-health. His constantly deteriorating health caused him to retire from acting.
Personal Life
The iconic personality has managed to keep his personal life under wraps. However, the rumor mill has it that he is involved in a romantic relationship with designer Apryl Rose. Richard has a daughter. He lives in Vancouver, Minnesota and Los Angeles shuttling between these cities.
