Will.I.Am was born William James Adams Jr. on March 15, 1975, in Los Angeles, California. Will was brought up by his mother, Debra. Will never met his father. He grew up in Eastside Los Angeles, in the Estrada Courts housing projects. Will’s mother sent him to school in the affluent West Los Angeles to encourage his musical career. The Black Eyed Peas signed with Interscope Records, and released their debut single “Joints and Jam” in early 1998. This original had only included Adams, Lindo, and Jaime Gomez (known by his stage name Taboo). The group’s debut album “Behind the Front”, released in June 1998, was successful enough that their contract with Interscope was renewed.
